Mrs. Clark graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 1991 with a Bachelor’s degree in Special Education. She has two North Carolina teaching licensure areas: Birth to Kindergarten and Mental Handicaps (K-12) with North Carolina highly qualified status. Immediately after her student teaching, she accepted a position in the Burke County Public school system as special education teacher. In 1994, Mrs. Clark was hired at FIPP and has been working in the field of early intervention, early childhood education, and family support for the past 20 years. Mrs. Clark helped to develop many of the foundational practices that FIPP has contributed to the field of early childhood. These areas include: specifying the FIPP mission, vision, and guiding principles; refining family-centered helpgiving practices, initial development of the ABC Matrix, and development of practice tools to ensure staff fidelity. Mrs. Clark has specialized expertise in supporting positive child behavior, parent/child interactions, child engagement in early care classrooms, and childhood obesity.
