Ms. Sexton received her Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Boston University in Massachusetts and a Master’s degrees in Special Education and Educational Leadership from Bank Street College in New York. Ms. Sexton has worked in the field of education for 17 years, including 15 years serving in management and leadership positions. For ten years, Ms. Sexton served as the Early Head Start Director for FIPP. While with FIPP, Sarah has conducted numerous training events nationally, including Birth to Three Early Head Start Institute, Zero to Three National Training Institute, Region IV Head Start Conference, North Carolina Family Literacy Conference, and the FIPP Center for Professional Development. Ms. Sexton has authored several articles and tools. She regularly consults with Early Head Start and Head Start programs across the country in the areas of group socializations, resource-based practices, interest-based child learning opportunities, and using a capacity-building approach with families. Sarah also serves as the P.A.L. Family Partnership Model Demonstration coordinator, a collaborative project between FIPP and the North Carolina Head Start State Collaboration Office designed to provide training and technical assistance to North Carolina’s family service workers to learn and adopt family engagement strategies that eradicate poverty.
